Where to put 200 guests: the village-by-village room answer
By The Goa Wedding Co. · 17 August 2026 · 7 min read

A 200-guest wedding needs about 105 rooms — the guest count divided by 2.2, plus a 15 per cent buffer. In Goa that many rooms behind one beach narrows the map to a few villages: Mobor and Cavelossim (The St. Regis with 186 rooms, Radisson Blu with 226), Varca (Caravela with 200), Arossim (ITC Grand Goa with 252), Bambolim (Grand Hyatt with 400), and the Candolim strip, which holds over a thousand rooms across many properties rather than one big block.
Start with the arithmetic
Two hundred guests divided by 2.2, because couples and families share but singles, elders and the inner circles do not, gives roughly 91 rooms. Add the 15 per cent buffer that every wedding ends up using, and the working number is about 105 rooms, sold on two-night minimums in season. The full method is in the room-block guide; this post is the map it implies, because 105 rooms behind one beach is a demand only a handful of Goa villages can meet.
One property or two?
The first fork: sleep everyone at the venue, or split the wedding between the venue and a neighbour. One property means no shuttle plan, no second front desk, and a wedding morning where everyone is already there — it is what we steer 200-guest weddings toward whenever the book allows it. The properties that can do it single-handedly are few, which is exactly what makes this list short.
The south: the big-block villages
Mobor and Cavelossim
The deep south's twin room banks. Mobor holds The St. Regis Goa Resort at 186 rooms and Holiday Inn Resort at 176; neighbouring Cavelossim answers with Radisson Blu at 226 rooms and Novotel Dona Sylvia at 181. Any one of the four takes a 200-guest wedding without an overflow hotel, and the beaches here are the long, near-empty kind the south is known for.
Varca and Benaulim
Varca is anchored by Caravela Beach Resort at 200 rooms, with the Zuri close behind; Benaulim spreads its 400-odd rooms across several mid-size properties instead (Taj Exotica at 140, Fairfield at 144, Azaya at 114), which makes it a fine two-property village if the pair sit close.
Arossim and Majorda
Arossim carries the single biggest southern block, ITC Grand Goa at 252 rooms, with Heritage Village Resort's 97 nearby. Majorda pairs Kenilworth's 156 with Alila Diwa's 120 — either works alone for 200 guests at a squeeze with nearby overflow, and together they cover it comfortably.
The centre: the quiet giants
Bambolim holds the state's largest single block, Grand Hyatt Goa at 400 rooms — a 200-guest wedding does not even dent it. Dona Paula answers with Taj Cidade de Goa Horizon at 299. The trade is the setting: bay rather than open beach, and Panjim ten minutes away, which some guest lists count as a feature.
The north: a strip, not a block
North Goa mostly does not build 200-room properties; its strength is the boutique end. The exception is the Candolim belt, which holds over 1,100 rooms across many mid-size hotels: The Westin at 195, Hyatt Centric at 164, Novotel at 154 and a dozen more. A 200-guest wedding here is a two- or three-hotel wedding with a short shuttle loop — entirely runnable, and the price of putting a young guest list ten minutes from the strip. Inland, Arpora's Resort Rio at 280 rooms is the north's one true single-block answer.
How to actually use this list
Shortlist by room count first and lawn second — a 200-guest wedding that sleeps in one place forgives almost everything else, and one that sleeps in three forgives nothing. Then check the block's contract terms before falling for the property: the group rate, the release date, the minimum stay. The questions are in the ten-questions post, and the room counts above are the confirmed figures from our venue book. Where we do not hold a count, the book says so rather than guessing.

Questions this post gets asked
Which single Goa hotel has the most rooms for a wedding?
Of the venues in our book with confirmed counts, Grand Hyatt Goa at Bambolim is the largest at 400 rooms, followed by Taj Cidade de Goa Horizon at 299, Resort Rio at 280, ITC Grand Goa at 252 and Radisson Blu Cavelossim at 226. Any of these sleeps a 200-guest wedding in one property.
Can North Goa host a 200-guest wedding at all?
Yes, but usually across two or three hotels rather than one — the Candolim strip alone holds over 1,100 rooms in mid-size properties, and Resort Rio at Arpora is the north's one big single block at 280 rooms. The south's big beachfront properties remain the simpler answer for lists of 200 and up.
Do all 105 rooms have to be at the wedding venue?
No — the working rule is to sleep the elders, the two inner families and the getting-ready suites at the venue, and overflow the wider list to a property within a short shuttle. Under roughly two guests per on-site room, plan the shuttle properly: arrival waves, a loading point and buffer time per move.
