Goa by month

Goa, month by month, for a wedding

Goa runs on nine usable months and three that belong to the rain. Choosing the month costs you nothing and it sets your venue rate, your room block and whether the ceremony can happen outdoors at all.

The one rule that outranks the weather

Whatever month you choose, amplified music outdoors stops at 10pm across Goa. It comes from the national noise rules and it is enforced, with a short list of notified days each year that run to midnight. Plan the evening backwards from ten and it is a non-issue: sundowner at five, dinner early, and the late half of the night indoors.

Questions about timing

When is the best month to get married in Goa?

November to February. The air is dry, the evenings are cool enough for a jacket, and outdoor set-ups are safe. December is the most beautiful and the most expensive of them.

Can you get married in Goa during the monsoon?

You can, and a few couples deliberately do — the state is greener between June and September than at any other time of year and the rates are at their lowest. It has to be planned as an indoor or fully covered wedding, because outdoor set-ups do not survive the rain.

Is October a good month for a Goa wedding?

It is the quietest good answer. The monsoon has cleared, Goa is still green from four months of rain, and peak-season pricing has not started. The trade-off is some residual humidity early in the month.

How far ahead do we need to book a Goa venue?

For November and December, ten to twelve months. Christmas and New Year week goes further out than that. For the shoulder months you have considerably more room.
