What Central Goa is for a wedding

Panaji, the Mandovi river, Bambolim bay and the road east into the ghats. It is the part of Goa that is not a beach strip, and that is its point. The capital has the shortest supplier runs in the state, both airports are roughly the same distance away, and the bay at Bambolim holds the largest event spaces in Goa. Of the 11 venues we hold here, 6 seat a thousand or more and 5 are heritage properties, from the painted houses of Fontainhas to the Portuguese-village architecture of the Vainguinim side.

Who it suits

Weddings above five hundred guests, which usually end up at Bambolim or Dona Paula because nowhere else in the state has the convention space. Couples who want the registrar, a tailor and a late-night pharmacy within ten minutes. Families splitting guests between two airports. And couples who want river light rather than sea light: the Mandovi at dusk from Miramar or Britona is a different frame from a beach, and photographers know it.

How the two halves differ

The bay side is scale: Bambolim Beach Resort, Grand Hyatt Goa, Taj Cidade de Goa Horizon, Goa Marriott Resort & Spa, Vivanta Panaji, Goa, The Fern Kadamba Hotel & Convention Centre, Goa carry the big numbers, with rooms on site and per-plate minimums to match. The Panaji side is the opposite, small heritage hotels in the Latin quarter where the wedding party stays and the ceremony happens elsewhere. Both sit closer to Dabolim than most of the north, which matters in the last week of December when the airport road is the slowest in Goa.
