What a villa wedding in Goa actually is

A villa is priced as a rental, not as a hotel. You take the house whole for a night or two, the kitchen comes to you, and the guest list is the number of people the garden can seat rather than the number a ballroom can. Of the 9 villas in our book, 2 have a confirmed capacity and 3 a confirmed room count; the rest are properties we know but have not yet measured for a wedding, and we would rather leave the figure blank than guess it.

Who it suits

Couples with a guest list under a hundred who want the place to themselves. Families who want the haldi in the courtyard and dinner on the lawn without moving anyone. Couples marrying from abroad who would rather host twenty people for three days than three hundred for one evening. The trade is usually beds: a private house sleeps a few dozen, so the wider list stays in hotels in Candolim or Assagao and a transport plan matters more than it would at a resort.

What to settle before you fall for one

Three things, in this order. Whether the house is licensed for events or is a private residence, because the panchayat's answer on sound and hours differs between the two. Where the nearest usable beach is, since Assagao's villas are inland and the sand is a fifteen-minute drive. And the catering: a villa has no per-plate rate, so the food is a separate contract, which is why our cost guide lists villas as "depends on venue" rather than inventing a number.
