How to choose a wedding planner in Goa
We are one of the options, so read this knowing that. It is still the checklist we would give a friend.
The short answer
Ask four things: where the team lives, whether they design and build the decor themselves or subcontract it, who from the company is physically present on the wedding day, and how they handle Goa's 10pm outdoor sound rule. Those four separate a local studio from a booking agent faster than any portfolio.
Where does the team actually live?
Most companies selling Goa weddings are not in Goa. They arrive a few days early and work from a hotel room. It often goes fine. But nobody on that team has met the panchayat secretary, and when a question comes up about what is allowed on the sand, they have to ask the venue — so you get the venue's answer rather than an independent one.
Do they design, or do they book?
There is a real difference between a coordinator and a studio. A coordinator manages a schedule and books suppliers, which is a genuine service. A studio draws your wedding and builds it. Ask to see drawings: a company that designs will have plans and elevations of its own work, and a company that books will have photographs of somebody else's.
Is the decor rented?
Rental catalogues are why so many Goa weddings look alike — the same set circulates through the same venues all season. Ask directly whether the mandap and backdrops are built for you or hired in. Ours are made in our own workshop, for one wedding, once.
Who is standing there on the day?
Ask for names and roles, and ask whether they are employees or freelancers hired for that weekend. It is the single best predictor of whether the day runs, and the question fewest couples think to ask.
What happens at 10pm?

Any planner who genuinely works here answers this instantly and has already designed the evening around it. Hesitation on this question tells you most of what you need.

Is it better to use a Goa-based planner or one from my own city?
A local team knows the panchayats, the venues and the roads because they use them weekly; a home-city planner knows you and your families. Plenty of weddings run well either way. What does not work is a planner who is neither — one who arrives days before and takes the venue’s word for everything.
How do I know if a planner actually designs, or just books vendors?
Ask to see drawings rather than mood boards. A studio that designs will show you plans and elevations of weddings it has built. A studio that books vendors will show you photographs of other people’s work.
What does a Goa wedding planner cost?
