A destination wedding in Goa, costed

Published 25 August 2026 · Updated 14 September 2026 · Rates from the venue book, Aug 2026

If you are planning a Goa wedding from another city or another country, the numbers have to be clear before anyone visits. This page is the arithmetic: what each venue tier charges a plate, what the room block actually comes to, three named venues worked end to end, and the 2026–27 dates that decide what any of it costs.

The short answer

Food is the part of a Goa destination wedding you can price before anyone quotes you: published per-plate rates across our venue book run from about ₹1,650 to ₹7,000 a head, and two main meals for 150 guests lands between roughly ₹5 lakh and ₹21 lakh depending on tier. The room block usually costs more than the food, because in Goa your guests do not go home at night. The season runs November to February, October is the value month, and the muhurat calendar for 2026–27 pushes almost every panchang wedding into the same few winter weeks.

What Goa gives you that the alternatives do not

Range inside a very small state. A ceremony on the sand at sunset with the reception in a ballroom behind it. An Indo-Portuguese mansion taken whole for a weekend. A fort at the northern tip with nothing around it but sea. A five-star that swallows six hundred guests without the wedding feeling like a conference. Our venue book files 99 of these by village, with the numbers we hold.

Two airports carry the guest list: Mopa in the north and Dabolim in the south, both with direct flights from most Indian metros and the Gulf. Drives between them and the venue belts run under two hours. And Goa is the only Indian state with a uniform civil code, which makes the legal side the same process regardless of religion.

Budget tiers, and what the food line comes to

The venue tiers below are cut from the per-plate minimum in our own book. The food figures are arithmetic, not a quote: the tier's published band, two main meals, at the guest count in the column. It is the only line in a Goa wedding you can work out before anyone sends you a proposal.

Where the money actually goes

Five lines carry nearly all of a Goa wedding, and they are not in the order people expect.

The five lines in a Goa destination wedding budget
LineHow it is pricedWhat decides it
RoomsGroup rate per room-night, quoted per wedding and per date. Two-night minimum in season, three across Christmas week.Guest count ÷ 2.2, plus a 15% buffer. A 150-guest wedding needs about 78 rooms and 156 room-nights. Usually the largest single line. The arithmetic.
Food and barPer plate against a minimum guarantee. Bar either as a fixed per-head package or billed by consumption. The published rate times the guarantee, not times your guest list — which is why the guarantee matters more than the rate. An uncapped consumption bar is an easy way to overrun.
Venue rentalHotels mostly do not charge one; they charge the minimum guarantee instead. Standalone houses, villas and estates charge a day rental and you bring the kitchen.Which of the two models you are being quoted. Two venues can quote the same per-plate figure and cost very different totals because of it.
Decor and productionDesign, then a line-by-line build quote: materials, fabrication, crew, install and strike. The number of set-ups, and where they stand. Sand needs weighting, generators and a crew that can work an unpowered site. What we build and how it is priced.
Logistics and permissionsTransfers at cost with the operator. Panchayat, excise and coastal-zone fees paid at the counter.Which airport your guests land at, and which panchayat governs the beach. Small individually, never small together.

On top of those sits the planning and design fee, which for us is flat at ₹5–25 lakh+ and set by scope — never a percentage of the lines above, because a percentage pays the planner more every time your wedding costs more. It is published in full on the fees page.

Shape of the weddingTwo events plus the wedding morning, two nights minimum in season.
Food, two main meals₹5.3 lakh — 150 guests × 2 meals at the venue's published ₹1,750+ a plate. A floor, not a quote: bar, menu upgrades and December all move it up.
Rooms79 rooms, 158 room-nights (150 ÷ 2.2, plus a 15% buffer, at a two-night minimum). Yes — 156 rooms on site covers the 79. Rate not published — hotels quote group rates per wedding and per date, so we do not print one.
Venue rentalNot charged as a line here. A hotel of this kind sells food against a minimum guarantee instead, and the shortfall on that guarantee is the negotiable part.
Decor and productionDesign sits inside our flat fee; the build is quoted line by line by our workshop once the drawings are done. No published rate — it depends on what is being made.
Logistics and permissionsAirport transfers, the panchayat file for anything on the sand, the excise licence for the bar, overtime. Fees are paid at the counter and vary by panchayat and scale.
Planning and design feeFlat, ₹5–25 lakh+, set by scope after the first call. Never a percentage.

The 2026–27 dates, and what they do to the price

Two calendars decide a Goa wedding: the panchang, which says when families may marry, and the season, which says what Goa charges for it. For 2026–27 they collide. The major panchang sources agree that August, September and October 2026 carry no marriage muhurats at all, so every panchang-observant wedding between mid-July 2026 and March 2027 is competing for the same few winter weeks — which are the weeks Goa already prices as peak.

2026-27 wedding dates against the Goa season
WindowDatesWhat Goa does to the price
Late November 202625th and 26thSeason has just opened and demand from four empty months lands here. Book ten to twelve months out.
Early December 20262nd, 3rd, 4th, 12thPeak. These sell at the marquee properties before the season starts.
Christmas and New YearNo muhurats; kharmas from mid-DecemberThe most expensive fortnight of the Goan year, often double the November rate, for weddings that do not follow the panchang.
January 202715th, 18th, 20th, 26th, 27thStill peak weather, materially better rates than early December, and more properties still holding dates.
February 20272nd, 10th, 11th, 14th, 27thThe widest choice of the window. Dry, cool evenings, and real availability.
March 202710th and 14thThe most widely agreed dates of the season's end, with humidity climbing after mid-month.

Dates follow the widely used North-Indian panchang computation and appear in at least two independent sources, cross-checked on 17 August 2026. Your family's astrologer outranks this page. South Indian calendars compute differently, and Goan Catholic and civil weddings follow the parish diary and the registrar instead. The full picture is in the 2026–27 dates guide.

If your wedding does not follow the panchang, play it in reverse: the weeks the muhurat calendar leaves empty are exactly when Goa's venues have dates to sell. The season guide carries the month-by-month picture, and October is the quiet answer for anyone whose calendar allows it.

What a destination wedding in Goa actually involves

The venue is the first decision and it settles most of the others, because rooms and per-plate come attached to it. After that: the room block and its release date, the permissions file if anything stands on sand, the design and the build, the guest machine of flights and transfers at two airports, and the run of show for two or three days rather than one evening.

Outdoor amplified music stops at 10pm across Goa under the national noise rules, with a short list of notified days that run to midnight. It is not a problem once you plan the evening backwards from ten: sundowner at five, dinner early, and the late half of the night indoors. A planner who works here answers that question without pausing, which is one of the four checks in how to choose a wedding planner in Goa.

What does a destination wedding in Goa cost?

A Goa destination wedding has no single price, but its food line can be worked out in advance. Published per-plate catering rates across 99 Goa venues on file run from about ₹1,650 to ₹7,000 a head, so food for 150 guests over two main meals runs roughly ₹5 lakh to ₹21 lakh. A 150-guest wedding also needs about 78 rooms at a two-night minimum, and that block is usually the largest line in the budget. The season runs November to February, October is the value month, and Christmas week can double a venue's rate.

Where to read next

What a Goa wedding costs works the same money by budget bracket, with per-plate figures venue by venue. All-inclusive packages takes apart what a package does and does not contain at ten named venues. Beach wedding venues with prices is the priced list for anyone set on sand, and planning from abroad covers how the work runs when you are not here.

What couples ask before they commit

How much does a destination wedding in Goa cost?

The spread is too wide for one honest number, but the food line is the part you can work out in advance: across the venues in our book with a published rate, per-plate signals run from about ₹1,650 to ₹7,000 a head, so two main meals for 150 guests lands somewhere between roughly ₹5 lakh and ₹21 lakh depending on the tier. Rooms sit on top and at a beach resort are usually larger again.

What does a destination wedding in Goa cost for 100 guests?

Worked from the per-plate bands in our venue book: at ₹10 lakh, 100 guests fits a villa or heritage house on day rental with one event; at ₹20 lakh, a four-star resort or boutique property for two nights with food for two main meals in the ₹5–7 lakh range; at ₹30 lakh, a mid-tier five-star for two or three nights. Rooms, design and photography sit on top of the food line, and December moves every number up.

Can you do a destination wedding in Goa under 10 lakhs?

Yes, at the villa tier. ₹10 lakh for up to 100 guests means a private villa or heritage house taken on day rental, catering brought in, one event plus the wedding morning, and most guests sleeping in hotels nearby. At 200 guests the same budget gets tight: food at the lowest published resort rates alone takes more than half of it.

Which are the best dates for a Goa destination wedding in 2026–27?

Cross-checked across the major panchang sources: late November 2026 holds the 25th and 26th, early December the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 12th, then the calendar pauses mid-December for kharmas. It reopens mid-January 2027 with the 15th, 18th, 20th, 26th and 27th, runs strongly through February, and closes with the 10th and 14th of March. August to October 2026 carry no muhurats at all in the North-Indian panchang, which is why this winter is so tight.

Which month is cheapest for a Goa destination wedding?

October, by a distance among the usable months. The monsoon has cleared, Goa is still green, and peak-season pricing has not started. The trade is some residual humidity early in the month. Christmas and New Year week is the opposite end: the most expensive fortnight of the Goan year, often at double the November rate.

Beach, heritage house or five-star — how do we choose?

By guest count first, and by rooms rather than seats. A Portuguese house or villa holds a wedding under 150 beautifully and gives you the whole property; a beach five-star handles 300 and up with rooms on site; the convention-scale properties take 1,000 and more. Our venue book files all of them with capacity, rooms and rate signals where we hold them.

How many nights do we need to book for a Goa wedding?

Two is the Goa norm in season, and some properties hold out for three across Christmas week. That matters more than it sounds, because the unit of accommodation cost is room-nights rather than rooms: a 150-guest wedding needs about 78 rooms, which at a two-night minimum is 156 room-nights before anyone has eaten anything.

Do we have to be in Goa to plan it?

No. Planning runs on video calls scheduled for your evening, with designs, budgets and approvals confirmed in writing. Plan on one visit to Goa before the wedding week itself.
