North Goa or South Goa?

It is the first fork in every Goa wedding, and most couples answer it on vibes. There is a better way: we hold 55 venues in the north and 33 in the south, and the two coasts host genuinely different weddings.
What the north is
The Candolim-to-Mandrem strip and the villages behind it — Assagao, Siolim, Anjuna, Saligao. This is where Goa's energy lives: the restaurants, the nightlife, the boutique hotels, and most of the state's Portuguese houses and villas. Guest lists that skew young choose north and are right to. The beaches are busier, which matters if you pictured an empty horizon behind the mandap, and the villages give you something the south mostly cannot: a heritage house taken whole, ten minutes from an after-party.
What the south is
The long, quiet beaches from Majorda down to Mobor and Canacona, with the grand mansion country inland at Loutolim and Chandor. The south is where Goa's biggest beach resorts stand — the properties with 150-plus rooms, real lawns on the sand, and space for a 400-guest wedding that never feels crowded. Weddings here are calmer by design: the beach behind the ceremony is often near-empty, and the evening belongs to you rather than to the strip.
Should you have your wedding in North Goa or South Goa?
Choose North Goa for boutique properties, Portuguese heritage houses, villas and nightlife within reach — it suits weddings under about 150 guests with a young guest list. Choose South Goa for the large beachfront five-stars with big room blocks and quiet sand — it suits weddings of 200 guests and up, and any wedding where most guests sleep on the property. Fly guests into Mopa for the north and Dabolim for the south.
The airport detail that surprises everyone
Goa has two airports and they sit at opposite ends of the state. Mopa, in the far north, serves the Candolim–Anjuna–Mandrem belt well; Dabolim, near Vasco, is the sensible landing for Majorda, Benaulim and Cavelossim. Land at the wrong one and you have added ninety minutes of highway to every arriving guest. We route the guest list before anyone books a ticket — it goes in the invitation's travel note.
Money, briefly
Neither coast is "the cheap one". The north runs cheaper at the boutique end because the properties are smaller; the south's big resorts carry minimums that assume big weddings — the charging-model guide explains why the same per-plate rate produces very different totals. Which part of Goa is best for a big wedding?
South Goa, in most cases. The properties with the largest room blocks and lawns sit on the southern beaches, and several take 400 guests and more without overflow hotels. The north's strength is the opposite end: boutique hotels, villas and heritage houses for weddings under 150.
Is North Goa too crowded for a beach ceremony?
The famous strip beaches are busy, and a sunset ceremony on Baga will have an audience. The answer in the north is either a property with private beach access or the quieter sand north of Morjim. In the south, near-private stretches are the default rather than the exception.
Which airport should wedding guests fly into?
Mopa for a North Goa venue, Dabolim for a South Goa venue. They are at opposite ends of the state, and the wrong choice adds up to ninety minutes by road. Put the right airport in the invitation — guests book flights before they read anything else.
Can we do a heritage house and a beach in one wedding?
Yes, and it is one of the best formats Goa offers: a haldi or sangeet in a Portuguese house in the north, the wedding itself on a southern beach, or the reverse. It adds a transfer day to the logistics, which is exactly the kind of thing we are for.
