Two calendars decide a Goa wedding: the panchang, which says when families can marry, and the season, which says what Goa charges for it. In late 2026 the two collide harder than usual. Here is the verified picture — dates cross-checked across the major panchang sources on 17 August 2026 — and what it means for booking.
Dates below follow the widely used North-Indian panchang computation and appear in at least two independent panchang sources; your family's astrologer, tradition and birth charts refine them and outrank this page. The 2026 squeeze, verified
The major panchang sources agree: August, September and October 2026 carry no marriage muhurats at all — Chaturmas and the combustion of Venus close the calendar. July's last dates fall in its first half, and the season reopens only in late November. For Goa this is doubly brutal, because those empty months are the monsoon anyway; what it really means is that every panchang-observant wedding between mid-July 2026 and March 2027 is competing for the same few winter weeks — exactly the weeks Goa already prices as peak.
Which are the auspicious wedding dates in Goa's 2026–27 season?
Cross-checked across major panchang sources: late November 2026 holds the 25th and 26th (with the 21st and 24th in most lists); early December holds the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 12th, with the season pausing mid-December for kharmas. The calendar reopens mid-January 2027 — the 15th, 18th, 20th, 26th and 27th — runs strongly through February (the 2nd, 10th, 11th, 14th and 27th lead the lists), and closes with March's 10th and 14th, the most widely agreed dates of the window. August to October 2026 carry no muhurats in the North-Indian panchang at all.
What this does to venues
A normal Goa December is busy. A December where four months of postponed muhurats land on six usable dates is a different animal: the strong dates — 25–26 November, 2–4 December — will sell at the best properties well before the season starts, and a couple holding one of those dates should treat the venue search as already urgent. The arithmetic favours the flexible: a Thursday muhurat in late January 2027 buys the same beach at a materially better rate than the first week of December, and February's spread of dates gives real choice at properties that were unbookable eight weeks earlier.
The South Indian difference
The Tamil muhurtham calendar is its own system and does hold dates through the months the North sits out — with its own avoided stretches (Aadi in high summer, Purattasi in early autumn, Margazhi in deep winter). Families following Telugu, Kannada or Kerala calendars differ again. The practical point for a mixed or South Indian family planning Goa: do not assume this page's date list is yours, and do not assume the empty months are empty for you — ask your priest, then call us with the date.
If your wedding does not follow the panchang

Is a weekday muhurat worth taking for a Goa wedding?
Usually, yes. Venues price weekday dates gentler even in season, flights are cheaper for the guest list, and the muhurat itself does not care what the office calendar thinks. The trade is attendance — some guests will manage only the main day — and for most destination weddings, where guests have travelled anyway, that trade is smaller than it looks.
Do these dates apply to church and civil weddings in Goa?
No — a Catholic wedding books against the parish calendar and a civil marriage against the registrar, with no panchang involved. What still applies is the season: December prices as December for everyone. Non-panchang couples can play this in reverse and take the weeks the muhurat calendar leaves quiet.
